A Monte Carlo simulation studies your chances of an outcome or related series of outcomes.

Let's say we have the performance figures, budgets, prints and ads, weeks in release and box office for 100 video games, or films, we can insert those figures into a model that will take ALL of the figures and perform 5000 random iterations on each figure, as well as study the relationship between figures, such as cost to produce, cost to market, unit sales, or box office. From these 5000 iterations, we can chart a series of graphs which show us the most likely parameters for each characteristic. From this knowledge we can more confidently plan our future.

This chart shows the possible appearance of prints and ads spends for films budgeted between $5 million and $10 million. The chart above is a portion of a monte carlo study by us. Typically, a study report is a combination of charts and analysis, and an explanation of data that went into the report.
